The author did a good job in introducing meditation and teaching the proper way to meditate. It’s not about always completely easy to sit there and focus on your breathing but it’s about the conscious practice for your mind to focus onto your breathing and being aware of your surroundings.

As mentioned by the author, there are more than twenty types of meditation and misconceptions about meditation. Misconceptions are clarified and from the many, the author narrows down to four types of meditation for the beginners.
The four types are, loving kindness, chakra, mantra and sitting meditation.
Ego and awareness are relevant in meditation.Ego is explained in simple terms and you will understand why ego is the root of most problems.
As human beings, we usually give excuses but in this book, watch how excuses are killed. No more reasons why you can’t start to meditate successfully.
A simple to read book which is great if you are starting to meditate.

This simple, well-written and practical little book, which is a ‘mind empty’ alternative to mindfullness(sic), should be on the reading list of every HR manager. Stress-related staff absence directly impacts our bottomline. Occupational health intervention has benefited from having the meditation approach provided in the easy-to-follow weekly practical guides , by putting a stressed staff member back in control. Return to work has been faster than the conventional tools of conversations and monitoring. Couldn’t recommend it more highly.

Author/speaker/life coach and consultant Timothy Lee, I am an author, speaker, life coach, and consultant sees his purpose to be a source of inspiration and change for anyone who refuse to settle for anything less than an extraordinary life. He is passionate and dedicated to helping us live a life of abundance, fulfillment and success.

In his Introductory remarks he offers background and the direction his book about stress will take: ‘When life throws the unexpected towards you, stress and its remains can easily overtake you and make your life somewhat miserable. You feel disillusioned, depressed, and simply unhappy about everything no matter how happy the environment around you is. When you couple this with anxiety, the result is a version of yourself that is truly hard to impress, and not willing to do anything to make your life better. In simple terms, you are just bordering depression and if anything else tragic or unfortunate were to happen, depression would hit you hard. However, your life doesn’t have to be like that. Just like the Zen Buddhists put it, there is an end to the suffering. You can turn your life around, overcome the stress and anxiety, and reclaim your happiness.’

His guidelines for managing stress include How to Reframe Stressful Thoughts, How to Avoid Unnecessary Stress, How to Make Changes to Your Environment, How to Meditate For Stress and Anxiety Relief, How to Adopt a Healthier Stress-Fighting Lifestyle including a health diet that reduces stress, Yoga for Relaxation: How to Practice the Bow Pose, Natural Ways to Relieve Stress and more.

Though there are many self-help books on stress management, Timothy’s book reduces the information to the pearls that are far easier to assimilate. Reading his book actually gives the feeling of the exit of stress – and that is fine writing. Grady Harp, December 15

Short e-Book with Many Practical Suggestions for De-Stressing, December 15, 2015
As someone who has recently been diagnosed with MS, I’m trying to get my stress levels under control. Stress, I’m learning, isn’t just a nuisance; it can lead to real health problems. While this book is not the most comprehensive resource that I’ve found — it’s quite short — that succinctness is also its biggest asset. The brevity of this text means that the book is mainly full of suggestions for how to alleviate stress, and even more importantly, keep stress from entering your life in the first place. The entire book can be read in under and hour, which means that you’re certainly not going to get stressed out or overwhelmed because you have to put more time into finishing the book!

So, what are the suggestions? The author’s specific techniques for dealing with stress are (in summary form):

    ➙’ reframing stressful issues
➙’ establishing a worry period, which is my FAVORITE suggestion; it involves curtailing the times in the day when you’re freaking out and overly stressed; the author isn’t saying “never get stressed,” which would be impossible, but instead suggesting to worry and freak out in a more managed and controlled way
    ➙’ avoiding unnecessary stress
➙’ changing your environment; many useful suggestions are listed in this section
➙’ engaging in more mellow/chill activities (meditation and yoga are included)
➙’ adopting a new lifestyle (everything from exercise to cuddling is mentioned)
➙’ relinquishing control and accepting change

That last thing is pretty hard to do, in my experience. Stress can come from a sense of control and management, so letting go takes some time.

Overall, I’ve found this book useful and full of ideas. I only wish it was a bit more comprehensive — but that spare simplicity is also one of its strongest assets.

I was provided a free sample in exchange for my honest review.

I never realized that I had so many negative thought patterns until I read this. I’m sure I suffer from all of them! This book certainly helped me consider reframing my stressful thoughts and provided valuable techniques to do so, as well as other techniques to help me in stressful situations. The author has also gone above and provides other free resources which I will be tapping into, particularly the Stress and Students book to help my son.
